Ruthie the Scribe Thank you Ruthie Book: The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid (available in paperback, 200 pages) " Set in modern-day Pakistan, Mohsin Hamid's debut novel, Moth Smoke, went on to win awards and was listed as a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. His bold new novel, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, is a daring, fast-paced monologue of a young Pakistani man telling his life story to a mysterious American stranger. It's a controversial look at the dark side of the American Dream, exploring the aftermath of 9/11, international unease, and the dangerous pull of nostalgia." Nancy Kane recommended this book and loved it! Please remember to RSVP to the host in advance of the meeting...and bring something refreshing to share on a hot summer afternoon. If you know anyone who would like to read along with us this summer, feel free to forward this email. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A joyful hello to everyone and I hope your summer is everything you wish it to be. I will be starting The Healing Kitchen cooking classes this month. My plan is to have a class Nutritious & Delicious-a class for anyone who wants to get healthier, this class will meet July 14th and then the 2nd wed. of each month. The other class will be The Healing Kitchen-and geared to anyone dealing with health issues and or special diets this class starts July 28th and meet every 4th wednesday. Friends, this is were I need your help! My classes are good, they are informative, inspiring, easy and the food taste's great. We are in a health crisis, the main cause being our food, I learned this the hard way, and have suffered much for it. I don't want others to go thru anything like I did, I want to reach as many people as I can, to pass on to them all I have learned about nutrition, to give them some of my passion for good food. To do this I need to reach people and get them to come to my classes. I have been dropping off flyers all over town, but I am asking you for a big favor, I have attached a flyer for my classes and website, please pass this on to all of your Sarasota contacts. Better yet, get a few friends together and come to a class, or have a class or cooking party at your house. If you have a business or are affiliated with any organization, pass on this info to them, I can teach a class, revise a menu, start a program, whatever is needed. So help me reach out to our community, you will be helping out not only me, but everyone you love to live a healthier more joyful life. Check out my website; www.thehealingkitchensarasota.com (coming soon blog, recipes, ect) Thanks for your help. -- Alysia Sargent The Healing Kitchen of Sarasota www.thehealingkitchensarasota.com 941-536-1045 ________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Save our Seabirds is greatly in need of voluteers. Most mid-afternoon movies begin between 2:00 and 2:30ish. The week before each date, I will send an email reminding and informing you of all the details. At that time you can RSVP to me, decide if you want to be in the carpool or drive independently, etc. During lunch, we will plan the next outing. I'll be the scribe...you are the deciders :) This is an inclusive and open interest group. So friends of friends are always welcome. Looking forward to seeing you at our next Flick Chicks event. Until then...safe travels...and stay cool.
